Panama Evaluates Visa-Free Access to the United States

The President of the Republic informed this Thursday that the Government is in talks with the United States to evaluate the possibility of Panamanian citizens being able to enter the North American country without the need for a visa. The head of state explained that the request is made considering that the percentage of visa denials to Panamanians is low, which places Panama as a candidate to participate in this type of program. According to him, the process is strictly diplomatic and requires joint analysis between both governments, without implying additional commitments for Panama beyond the compliance with current migration regulations. The Government assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to lead the negotiations and will follow up on the management, with the objective of facilitating the mobility of citizens within the framework of solid bilateral relations and cooperation. The President highlighted that the initiative seeks to facilitate travel for tourist, educational, and commercial purposes, contributing to the strengthening of economic and cultural ties between both countries. Likewise, he pointed out that any visa waiver measure will be communicated in a timely manner to the citizenship, ensuring transparency and access to information on requirements and procedures. The Government reiterated its commitment to manage agreements that benefit the population, always maintaining security and compliance with international standards.
