Panama - The National Police has dusted off Mayoral Decree No. 16-DAI-2024, which establishes a curfew for minors and implements specific measures to reinforce security in the district of San Miguelito.

The regulation, published in the Official Gazette No. 30111 on September 4, 2024, and still in effect, states that from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, from Sunday to Thursday, no minor should be outside their home in the San Miguelito district. The decree also establishes that on Fridays and Saturdays, the curfew hours will be from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, meaning its start time is pushed back by one hour.

"We are calling on parents to protect their children and comply with this norm to maintain a safe district," officials highlight.

The entity detailed that it is informing about the validity of this decree "with the aim of guaranteeing juvenile security in the district." Therefore, it is reminded that any minor found outside their home during the established hours will be transferred by units of the Police for Children and Adolescence to a special facility, where they will remain in custody until their parents or legal guardians come to claim them.

The entity assures that it has intensified motorized patrols, community operations, and intelligence actions with the objective of reducing crimes that affect social coexistence.
