The National Aeronaval Service (Senan) reported the seizure of 5,356 packages of a suspected illicit substance, equivalent to over 5 tons, found on Bongo Beach, Isla del Rey, in the Archipelago of Las Perlas. The operation was carried out through intelligence work, patrols, and control of illicit maritime traffic. According to authorities, a vessel ran aground on a rocky area after fleeing from police with several crew members on board. The crew members escaped the scene, leaving the vessel abandoned with a crack from the impact. "A precise blow to transnational organized crime and illicit maritime traffic, which prevented these substances from reaching Panamanian homes," the entity stated. Senan indicated that, along with Panama's Drug Prosecutor's Office, the suspected substance was transferred to the Captain of Frigate Noel Antonio RodrÃguez Justavino Naval Base, where the corresponding proceedings will be carried out. The entity highlighted that 120 sacks were counted at the scene.
