Two Colombians with criminal records denied entry to Panama

Two Colombian citizens attempting to enter Panama illegally through the Guna Yala region were detained by agents of the National Migration Service (SNM), after it was verified that they have serious active criminal records and impediments. According to the entity, when verified at the migration checkpoint in Puerto Obaldía, the system showed that one of the foreigners had an active criminal conviction for aggravated homicide, so he was detained and handed over to Colombian authorities. Meanwhile, the other had a warrant for crimes related to illicit substances and active alerts in the migration systems, so he was returned to Colombia. In both cases, Migration coordinated the transfer procedures with Colombian security agencies.
