This initiative represents a significant contribution to the professionalization of journalism and reaffirms the commitment to informational excellence. The academic program developed for the seminar addressed topics of high relevance for the work of the contemporary journalist. For three days, the Panama Journalists' Union held an updating seminar for social communicators, aimed at strengthening their professional, ethical, and technical competencies in a media environment that is increasingly complex, digitalized, and demanding. Among the topics that generated the most attention from participants in the seminar were journalism ethics as a fundamental pillar for credibility, social responsibility, and public trust in the various media. The ethical reflection was aimed at reinforcing essential principles, such as objective truth, impartiality, respect for sources, protection of human rights, and accountability to the citizens of this country. Likewise, the normative framework that regulates the profession was analyzed, especially in a context where the absence of a law that comprehensively protects the work of the professional writer persists. This debate allowed for an examination of the legal challenges, regulatory gaps, and the need to strengthen institutional mechanisms that guarantee both freedom of expression and the protection of the labor and professional rights of the journalist. Another central axis of the seminar was the impact of digital advances on the processes of production, dissemination, and consumption of information shared and massified without control. The transformations that traditional media have experienced, the expansion of digital platforms, and the new informational dynamics of the digital age were addressed. In this regard, the ethical risks associated with their indiscriminate use were highlighted. The seminar emphasized the need to use these tools as technical support, without replacing professional judgment, rigorous research, or the editorial responsibility of the journalist. The holding of the seminar reaffirmed the importance of continuous education as an essential tool to ensure a quality journalistic practice capable of responding to the technological, social, and democratic challenges of our times. In this framework, the importance of permanent training to face phenomena such as disinformation, informational immediacy, and competition in multimedia environments was highlighted. Special emphasis was placed on the correct and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence applied to journalism. This component allowed for reflection on the opportunities that new technologies offer to optimize informational processes.
