Panama Launches Model Community Courts to Enhance Judicial Efficiency

Panama's Ministry of Government reported on the progress of its Community Peace Justice System, highlighting the launch of the first model court in Don Bosco, designed to be replicated nationwide with digital technology for greater traceability and efficiency.


The Ministry of Government (Mingob) presented during the Council of Cabinet a report on the progress in the implementation of the Community Peace Justice System. This system is consolidating as one of the mechanisms to resolve conflicts, maintain social peace, and foster peaceful coexistence among citizens. Minister Dinoska Montalvo highlighted the official inauguration of the Don Bosco Community Court. In her presentation, the minister detailed that there are currently around 487 Houses of Peace operating in the country. «We are seeking community courts with traceability and technology, including digital files, so that the user has a much more formal and efficient experience,» she stated. The Mingob is working to resolve specific operational aspects, such as activating the necessary physical structures to comply with the law during the first half of 2026. «Don Bosco is the first model of the operation that we want to replicate throughout the country,» reiterated Montalvo, who also emphasized the need for greater traceability, for example, to monitor payments for certifications or fines with precision.
