The Ministry of Education of Panama (Meduca) filed a complaint with the Public Ministry after detecting approximately 16 fake diplomas from a private university, submitted by applicants for the Massive Teacher and Professor Appointment Contest 2026. The legal action was taken by the Deputy Minister for Administrative Affairs, Luis Herrera, along with the Legal Advisory and Human Resources team, for the alleged crime against public administration, in the modality of document forgery, with the aim of carrying out the corresponding investigations. During the review of the teaching documentation, Meduca authorities contacted the university involved, which certified that the diplomas had not been issued by the institution, confirming the detected academic irregularities. The Ministry of Education expressed its rejection and condemnation of the fact that people who aspire to work as teachers in Panama, responsible for the education of children and young people, engage in this type of illegal practices. Likewise, the entity reiterated that it will maintain the exhaustive review of the documentation submitted by applicants, as part of the controls to ensure transparency in the 2026 teacher appointments.
