Deputy Files Lawsuit Against Senniaf Director, Uncovering Internal Crisis

Deputy Alexandra Brenes sounded the alarm over the handling of Senniaf by filing a criminal complaint against its director, Ana Fábrega, and other officials, for alleged crimes of sexual abuse, mistreatment of minors, and omission in the performance of public functions. The legal action not only points to irregularities at the Tocumen Comprehensive Care Center but also reveals an internal crisis within the institution, paradoxically, in charge of protecting Panama's children. Brenes arrived at the Public Prosecutor's Office accompanied by César Augusto Pérez, former director of Prevention at Senniaf, who revealed that he was dismissed after insisting that anomalies detected at the center where children remain in state custody be investigated. «We are here to file a complaint for alleged crimes against minors, for mistreatment and for the non-compliance of public functions,» stated Brenes, while questioning that internal warnings were ignored by Fábrega's administration. «Lack of trust» after alerting Pérez stated that his departure was justified under the argument of «lack of trust» after raising formal reports to the director of Senniaf. «Everything is in writing».
