Panama's Ministry of Environment Publishes Third Audit Report for Panama Copper Project

The Ministry of Environment (MiAMBIENTE) published the Third Monthly Progress Report of the Comprehensive Audit of the Panama Copper Mine Project, corresponding to the period from December 8, 2025, to January 9, 2026. The report was prepared by SGS Panamá Control Services Inc., under the supervision of this entity. According to the entity, this report continues the multidisciplinary integration phase of the audit process, which is developed in accordance with the Terms of Reference and is based on the verification of compliance with the 370 environmental commitments established in the Environmental Impact Study (EIS) of the project. It was communicated that during the evaluated period, the audit team advanced in the documentary review, field inspections, and comprehensive and systemic analysis of the information submitted by the stakeholders, contrasted with the data obtained directly on-site. The document corresponds to a progress report, prepared based on the current state of maturity of the comprehensively audited process. MiAmbiente stated that the applied methodological approach allows for verifying the project's performance and supporting decision-making, particularly in the identification and evaluation of future environmental assets and liabilities, also incorporating the analysis of the legal, labor, and tax aspects applicable at the national and international levels. Although it is a progress report, its preparation has involved progressive processes of technical evaluation against the commitments of the EIS, the tables of the Terms of Reference, and the components of the audited mining process, generating preliminary results on the level of compliance while consolidating the structure of the final report, strengthening the methodological traceability, coherence, and technical robustness of the audit. The Ministry of Environment keeps the progress reports of the Comprehensive Audit to the Panama Copper Mine Project available to the public, in compliance with the principles of transparency, access to environmental information, and traceability of the process, in accordance with current regulations.
