Panama - Three crew members of a vessel were apprehended while transporting 1,263 packages of suspected drugs south of Isla Jicarón, in the province of Veraguas, in the Western Pacific. Units of the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) located the alleged drug traffickers while conducting a maritime patrol in the area and detected the vessel moving in a suspicious manner. The officers gave the order to stop to the suspects and proceeded to inspect the vessel, where they visualized more than 10 red striped sacks, proceeding to secure them and apprehend the crew. The apprehended individuals and the evidence were transferred to the Aeronaval Station of Quebrada de Piedra, where, together with the Veraguas Prosecutor's Office for Drugs, the packages of suspected illicit substance were counted, totaling 1,263 units, which were made available to the Public Ministry for the corresponding proceedings. With this seizure, Senan adds 15,011 tons of illicit substances confiscated so far in the year 2026, as a result of 12 operations carried out at the national level.
