Defense of Papadimitriu alleges 'total absence of crime' and accuses Public Ministry of manipulating evidence

Arturo Saurí, the lawyer for former minister Demetrio Papadimitriu, stated before the court that there is no crime whatsoever in the transfers under investigation and accused the Public Ministry of building a 'selective and distorted' theory of the facts.

During his arguments, Saurí affirmed that the financial movements pointed out by the prosecution have contractual backing, presenting an agreement dated March 31, 2010, signed by Olivio Rodríguez on behalf of the company Construcciones y Materiales S.A., which, according to the defense, coincides in time and form with the transfers received from Constructora Internacional del Sur.

The jurist questioned that this contract, despite being part of the case file, was not considered by the Public Ministry when structuring the accusation. 'A fiction was created that there was no commercial relationship,' he alleged, pointing out that the prosecution only partially incorporated documents from the file, limiting itself to certain volumes and omitting key pieces.
