A man of unknown identity was murdered on Monday night in the indigenous community of Ibeorgun, in the district of Cristóbal Este, province of Colón. Residents of the area heard several gunshots on the main street of the community and, upon going out to see what was happening, found a person lying on the ground around 8:00 PM. Following the report, units of the National Police arrived at the scene to verify the situation. Subsequently, investigating agents and officials from the Public Ministry arrived, who collected evidence and recovered the body in the early hours of Tuesday. The deceased was not carrying identification documents, so his identity has not been established at this time. The case was handled by agents from the police zone, E of Los Lagos-La Feria, who classified the incident as a homicide with a firearm. According to the preliminary report, the man had multiple bullet impacts in different parts of his body, including the forehead, chin, chest, and left buttock. The victim was described as a man of medium build and dark skin, who was wearing a dark t-shirt, pre-washed short jeans, and black sneakers at the time of the attack. The authorities cordoned off the entire area to preserve the crime scene. The authorities have launched investigations to clarify this new violent incident. With this violent act, the number of murders in the province rises to 13 so far this year.
