Applications Open for Ombudsman Position in Panama

The National Assembly of Panama has opened applications for the position of Ombudsman for the 2026-2031 term. According to the official announcement, applicants must meet the requirements established in article 130 of the Constitution of Panama and present several documents to support their candidacy. Among the required requirements are a letter of application explaining why they should be chosen, the original birth certificate from the Electoral Tribunal, an authenticated copy of the ID, certification of civil and political rights, criminal record, resume, and a notarized sworn statement stating that they have no legal impediments. Applications will be received on March 18, 19, and 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Commission's office located on the sixth floor of the main building of the National Assembly. Authorities also informed that interested persons can withdraw the election process regulation directly from the Commission's offices. The call carries the signature of the president of the Commission on Government, Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Deputy Luis Eduardo Camacho Castro.
