The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office will continue with the proceedings to determine if there are administrative or criminal liabilities in this case related to the ATTT. Later, in July 2024, an addendum was signed that maintains the concession of the service for a 10-year period. The agreement aimed to implement a technological platform to modernize the vehicle inspection process, a mandatory requirement that drivers in Panama must meet to keep their vehicles on the road. Authorities are now reviewing how the contract was awarded, what procedures were applied, and if the established legal steps were respected. The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has put a spotlight on a contract signed between the Transit and Land Transport Authority (ATTT) and a software company, after detecting possible irregularities in the way the agreement to digitize the vehicle inspection process was obtained. The investigation was opened for the alleged commission of the crimes of embezzlement and influence peddling, as reported by the Public Prosecutor's Office. The objective of the proceedings is to clarify whether legal norms were complied with during the contracting and development of the project or if there were any anomalies. Official information indicates that the contract was signed in March 2023 for an amount of B/. 1,462,572.00.
