Panama - A 25-year-old man from the Guna Yala indigenous region has been provisionally detained while investigations link him to the rape of a minor, who became pregnant as a result of the crime.
The incident occurred in mid-January 2026 in the indigenous community of Narganá. According to the ongoing investigation, the man sexually abused a 15-year-old girl.
Following the event, the Guna Yala Prosecutor's Office managed the apprehension of this individual to face justice. During the hearing before the Guarantees Court, the Guna Yala Prosecutor's Office also secured the legalization of the apprehension and the formal charging of the man.
In this same hearing before the Guarantees Tribunal, a precautionary measure was ordered. He now faces charges for the crime of aggravated rape and must wait at least six months for the investigation to conclude and for the trial to proceed.
