The Attorney General's Office has opened a criminal investigation following an incident at the headquarters of the High Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, where a proceeding involving auditors from the Comptroller General's Office was interrupted. According to the Public Ministry, the situation occurred during an investigative act in which the Comptroller's auditors were being interviewed as part of a process for the crime of unjustified enrichment. The case is being brought against the former Vice President of the Republic, José Gabriel Carrizo. The communiqué details that during this proceeding, officials from the Comptroller's Office allegedly burst into the premises, which caused the interruption of the act being carried out at the anti-corruption headquarters. This event motivated the opening of a criminal investigation to clarify what happened. The Public Ministry rejected any type of external pressure and emphasized that due process will be guaranteed, in addition to maintaining its constitutional function of criminal prosecution.
