Security Reinforcement for National Holidays

The Minister of Public Security, Frank Alexis Abrego, reported on the reinforcement of national security with an additional 7,000 police officers during the month of Homeland, highlighting 514 arrests and the capture of drug traffickers on Jicarón Island.

During this month of the Homeland, the public force has reinforced all points at the national level to guarantee security, order, and healthy coexistence, according to the Minister of Public Security Frank Alexis Abrego. To achieve this objective, about seven thousand additional police units have been deployed in various areas of responsibility, including the Police, Senafront, Aeronaval, and Immigration.

In a limited time period between November 8 and 10, 514 arrests were made for different crimes, 174 raids were conducted, as well as eleven seizures of illegal firearms and ammunition of various calibers. The minister emphasized that, in addition to providing security in urban areas such as neighborhoods, streets, and shopping centers, patrols are also being carried out at borders, coasts, and islands to combat transnational organized crime.

One piece of evidence of these efforts was the capture of three foreigners last weekend on Jicarón Island, South Pacific, who were attempting to transport more than two tons of illegal substances in a fast boat equipped with three 250 hp engines. In light of this situation, the minister called on the population to remain cautious and reminded that the first ring of security for everyone is ourselves.

He urged everyone to enjoy the patriotic festivities in an atmosphere of respect, tolerance, and healthy coexistence. In this context, the collaboration of all citizens is essential to maintain security and peace in the country.
