The National Authority of Transparency and Access to Information (ANTAI) has initiated an official investigation against an official from the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (UNACHI). It is suspected that the public servant has violated the code of ethics for public servants, specifically through the accumulation of positions and improper use of work time.
According to the complaint, the official would be charging an additional B/.75.00 in exchange for expediting certain procedures. These practices could constitute a serious violation of the ethical and transparency norms governing public service in Panama.
The director of ANTAI, María Dolores De Fábrega, expressed her concern about this type of conduct and reiterated the institution's commitment to ensuring integrity and ethics in public service.
"It is essential that public servants act with transparency and ethics in the exercise of their functions. Any act of corruption or violation of current regulations will be investigated and sanctioned according to the law," emphasized De Fábrega.
The Autonomous University of Chiriquí has committed to collaborate with authorities in the investigation and has expressed its full willingness to clarify the facts. Meanwhile, ANTAI is expected to continue the investigative process to determine the corresponding responsibilities and ensure compliance with the law in this case.
