The Board of Directors of the Panama Passport Authority approved a resolution establishing an additional charge of 75 dollars for expedited passport issuance in cases of urgency, weekends, and public holidays. This measure is based on Article 4, numeral 16 of Law 32, which grants the Passport Authority the power to set, charge, and collect fees for the services rendered, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.
The General Administrator of the Passport Authority presented the proposal and supported it before the Board members, with the resolution being signed by Ángel Calderón as President and Sonia de Luzcando as Secretary.
According to Resolution JD-01-2024 dated October 17, 2024, Article 7, numeral 4 of Law 32 of 2013 is cited, which empowers the Board of Directors to approve the fees, charges, rents, and rights proposed by the administrator.
The additional cost of 75 dollars aims to ensure that the passport is delivered on the same day in urgent situations, weekends, and public holidays. It is worth noting that for now this service will be offered only at the headquarters of the Passport Authority.
