Arrival of SIP Delegation in Panama

Next week, a delegation from the Inter-American Press Society (SIP) is scheduled to arrive in the country. During their visit, former president Ricardo Martinelli and member of the "Libertad de Expresión Panama" collective, Juan Carlos Tapia, will present a document to President Laurentino Cortizo requesting that the president adhere to the Chapultepec Declaration.

The Chapultepec Declaration is a document that establishes principles of freedom of expression and seeks to protect the right to information. Former Security Minister José Raúl Mulino stated that, along with Martinelli, he will sign this important document on behalf of the organization "Libertad de Expresión Panama."

Mulino affirmed that it is essential for President Cortizo to adhere to the Chapultepec Declaration and demonstrate his commitment to freedom of expression in Panama. This initiative aims to ensure the protection of journalists and media in the exercise of their work.

In this sense, the visit of the SIP delegation is particularly significant, as it represents another step in the defense of freedom of expression in the country. Furthermore, the signing of the Chapultepec Declaration by Mulino and Martinelli reinforces the commitment of various actors to preserve this fundamental right in Panama.
