Panamanian coach Julio Rangel, who works in the organized baseball system of the United States (MLB), has been officially designated as the pitching coach for the Panama national team for the World Baseball Classic, which will be held in March 2026.
This information was revealed by the General Manager of the national team for the World Baseball Classic, Dámaso Espino, who detailed that Rangel will assume responsibility for coordinating everything related to pitching, in conjunction with the bullpen coach Bruce Chen.
«Julio is already working alongside manager Mayorga and the rest of the staff in meetings with possible pitchers, becoming a fundamental piece due to his experience, credibility, and the respect he enjoys within the industry,» stated Espino in a note.
It should be noted that Rangel currently works for the major league team St. Louis Cardinals and holds the position of assistant pitching coach and bench coach.
The national team was placed in Group A of this competition, which will be held at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, which will be the host country for this group. Other teams in the group will include Cuba, Canada, Colombia, and Puerto Rico.
