Panama's Under-17 Men's National Team fell 1-0 against the Group 16 team of the TDP League, representing northeastern Mexico, in their first match of Group B of the 2026 International Sun Tournament. The match, held on field 3 of the facilities of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) in Toluca, was decided by a goal in the 38th minute by player Otto Rodríguez, who scored with his right foot by taking advantage of a loose ball inside the area. For Panama, the youth team was close to an equalizer in the final minutes of the match through midfielder Alfredo Maduro, but his shot was stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. Led by coach Felipe Baloy, the team will play their second match of the competition on Tuesday, January 13, when they face the Group 9 team, representing the capital and surroundings of the Mexico Valley of the TDP League, in a match scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Panama time, on field 3 of the FMF.
