Panamanian Baseball Federation Imposes Sanctions for Brawl

The Technical Commission of the Panamanian Baseball Federation announced the first sanctions following the violent incidents that occurred last Saturday during the match between the teams of Veraguas and Los Santos, held at the Roberto Flaco Bala Hernández stadium. In an official communiqué, Fedebeis reported that due to the severity of the events that took place during match No. 78 of the National Baseball Championship of the Major League, disciplinary measures were applied in accordance with the regulations. “The Technical Commission initially proceeds to apply what is indicated in article 84, which, in section a) of the Sanctions Annex, states that players and coaches included in the referees' reports and the stadium commissioner's report must comply with the sanction indicated therein,” the communiqué states. Based on the referees' reports and the stadium commissioner's report, the Technical Commission decided to sanction Veraguas players Abdiel Ramos (manager), Erick Murdock (#15), Ricardo Corcho (#22), Alfredo Aldarete (#41), and Jesús Aizprúa (#1) for two matches. For Los Santos, the sanctioned players were José Gómez (#23) and Ismael Velasco (#96). The body also explained that these sanctions are part of an ongoing process, so a final resolution is still expected. “Regardless of these sanctions, the Technical Commission, taking into account the indications in articles 89, 90 and 91 of the Official Regulations of the 83rd Major Baseball Championship, grants a 48-hour period to issue a final ruling on these events,” it concluded.
