After months of waiting and closed doors, Bocas del Toro once again has a passport headquarters. The provincial office reopened on the ground floor of Captain Manuel Niño Airport, in Changuinola, to assist people who need to travel or renew their documents. The office will handle first-time applications and renewals from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The delivery of processed passports will be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., without any complications or excuses. The administrator of the Passport Authority, Sonia de Luzcando, recalled that in June 2025, the office went out of service due to vandalism. She said they tried to halt the work, but the entity held on and has now reopened. The reopening ceremony included the ribbon-cutting with the provincial governor, Marcela Madrid Guerra, the provincial director, Geronhe Cubilla, and the sub-administrator, Joyce García. The reopening benefits more than 150,000 residents who will no longer have to leave the province to complete the process.
