In Panama, a 71-year-old man was apprehended this Thursday by units of the National Border Service (Senafront) in Changuinola, Bocas del Toro province, for allegedly abusing a 16-year-old minor. According to the entity, the man had been wanted since 2022, when the victim reported the serious incident. Therefore, the units of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation had been tracking him. Once located and apprehended, the elderly man was handed over to the Public Ministry for the judicial process against him for sexual offenses against a minor. This case comes after the Bocas del Toro Regional Prosecutor's Office managed to have a guarantees judge charge a 23-year-old man with crimes against the freedom and sexual integrity, in the form of lewd acts, against a 13-year-old minor. On March 8, in the Guabito district, the accused committed acts of touching against the minor, taking advantage of the fact that the child was his neighbor. Following the apprehension and judicial process of this suspect, the minor came under specialized care from the Bocas del Toro Public Ministry.
