The incident began after 11:00 p.m. on Carnival Sunday when units of the National Police (PN) arrived at the location where a parade was taking place, with dozens of people enjoying the festive event. During the operation, the National Police proceeded to evacuate the area, which generated a confrontation between local residents and law enforcement officers. However, residents of the multi-family buildings on Bambú Lane claimed that the weapon was never lost, in a context marked by previous tension between the community and the PN. The eviction operation also extended to 4th Street on Justo Arosemena Avenue, as well as 7th and 8th Streets on Santa Isabel Avenue, in the same Bambú Lane sector. The official reaction from the Carnival Committee is expected to this incident, which occurred during the celebrations in the province of Colón. The regulation weapon of a National Police officer was found this Carnival Monday afternoon under some planks and inside a bag, following an eviction operation on 14th and 15th Streets, Amador Guerrero Avenue, in the Bambú Lane buildings, in the city of Colón. Attendees claimed they had permission to remain at the site until midnight. According to the security entity, the regulation weapon of one of the agents was stolen during the confrontation.
