Colón Transport Workers Strike Over Terminal Conditions

Transport workers staged a strike this Wednesday, demanding improvements to the existing bus terminal in the city. The protest was aimed at pressuring authorities for solutions regarding the deteriorating conditions, which they claim affect both drivers and users. Transporters are seeking a resolution that would allow them to operate the current terminal located on Calle 13, Avenida Bolívar. They point out that the facility faces serious problems such as a lack of water, garbage, poor hygiene, and administrative neglect, a situation that has been ongoing for some time. On behalf of the Panama-Colón buses, Luis Rodríguez explained that transport operators have no access to or control over the funds collected at the terminal. He indicated that these resources could have been used to improve the facilities and address the most urgent needs of the site. Rodríguez also made it clear that they have no relation to the new terminal being constructed.
