The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) has issued a yellow alert for the province of Colón due to the heavy rains recorded in the area.
The decision to maintain the yellow alert is due to the increase in precipitation that has caused various impacts in the province. Among the measures taken, the Ministry of Education of Panama (Meduca) has suspended classes in five schools in Colón as a preventive measure.
According to statements from local authorities, the priority is to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff in light of the adverse weather conditions. It is expected that the suspension of classes will last until the situation improves and optimal conditions are guaranteed to resume school activities.
Sinaproc continues to monitor the situation in the province of Colón and provides recommendations to the population to prevent risks and offer assistance if necessary.
