Panamanian police successfully extradited a citizen arrested in Spain for the 2017 kidnapping of a businessman. The arrest was made possible through international cooperation and activation of Interpol protocols.

Police officers from the National Central Bureau of Interpol Panama traveled to Madrid, Spain, to carry out the extradition of a Panamanian citizen wanted for kidnapping, robbery, and criminal association.

The incident occurred on February 3, 2017, in a commercial parking lot in the district of David, where several individuals kidnapped a businessman, demanding money in exchange for his release.

Following investigations, it was determined that one of the alleged suspects had managed to leave the country. Consequently, international alert protocols were activated across all 196 member countries of Interpol, and he was apprehended in Spain.

Upon his extradition, the man will be handed over to the Public Ministry to continue the judicial process.
