
The Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Panama highlighted the importance of strengthening trade relations to promote the growth and diversification of exports. In this regard, the country achieved 964.3 million dollars in exports in 2024, marking an increase of 7.4% compared to the previous year and the best record since 2010.
According to the Minister of Commerce and Industries, Julio Moltó, this value close to one billion dollars establishes a significant milestone in the history of Panamanian foreign trade. Bananas continued to be the main export product, representing 16.3% of the total, followed by frozen shrimp with 10.4%.
Among the most notable export destinations, the United States led with 184.5 million dollars, followed by the Netherlands with 140.1 million and Taiwan with 110.6 million. These countries remain essential trading partners for Panama.
The statement emphasizes that the success in exports is due to investment in infrastructure, improvement of competitiveness, and promotion of products in key markets. Products such as raw cane sugar, crude palm oil, and fish fats and oils also played an important role in Panamanian exports, highlighting the quality and competitiveness of local production.
