The Panamanian Council of Ministers approved the hiring of a consortium to manage the construction of the Line 1 metro extension to Villa Zaíta. The 22-month contract is valued at over $3.5 billion.


Contract Approved for Management of Panama Metro Line 1 Extension

The Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday resolution No. 136-25, authorizing the Panama Metro S.A. to hire the PM Extensión Línea 1 Consortium (composed of Nippon Koei Lac, Inc., Systra, and Nippon Koei Co., Ltd.) to provide project management services. The consortium will also be responsible for coordinating interfaces and providing technical assistance for the extension of Line 1 to Villa Zaíta. According to the resolution, the contract will be for a period of twenty-two (22) months, from June 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026, for an amount of $3,543,846.98 million. The Panama Metro affirms that the consortium currently providing management services has full knowledge of the project, understands the methodology of the implemented processes, has the appropriate resources, counts on qualified professionals, and is ready to execute the required management services to oversee and supervise the ongoing construction activities.
