Panama Government Approves Contract for Railway Consulting

The Panamanian government has approved a contract worth over $802,000 for consulting on the financial model of the Panama-David Railway. The National Railway Secretariat of Panama presented this project. The concession will be for 20 years and includes the remodeling of the infrastructure, as well as the construction of a three-level parking garage and a covered amphitheater.

Air Europa has extended the suspension of operations with Venezuela until December 31. While Copa Airlines has also extended the cancellation of its flights to Caracas until December 18, other Venezuelan companies are announcing their return to the isthmus, such as Rutaca, Turpial, and more flights from La Venezolana and Estelar.

María Corina Machado fractured a vertebra during her trip to Oslo, according to a Norwegian media outlet. She will return to Venezuela with her plans for a cleanup after healing her injury. It is believed that the injuries occurred when she fled Venezuela in a small fishing boat last Monday.

More than 300,000 people attended the Panama City Christmas Parade. 30 floats, 40 bands, and 52 cultural delegations filled Nicanor de Obarrio or Calle 50 with lights and colors. The Panama Canal float, which highlighted water as a value of Panama, was one of the favorites.

The former Figali will return to private hands after 16 years under state administration. The UABR is preparing the concession of the former Figali under the lease-with-investment scheme for 20 years, with a total investment estimated at more than $30 million.

Hollywood director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead at their Los Angeles home. Police are treating the case as an “apparent homicide” and have launched an investigation after two bodies were found at the couple’s residence in Brentwood, an affluent neighborhood home to many celebrities. The Los Angeles Police and Fire departments responded at 3:40 p.m. to a call from the property. The couple was found with their throats slit after a possible argument.

A daughter of the Reiners found the bodies and told police that her brother Nick was responsible for her parents’ deaths. Nick Reiner, the middle son of film director Rob Reiner, is one of the suspects in the death of his parents, responsible for the stabbing of both of his parents. The son of Rob and Michele Reiner, suspected in murder, was arrested with a $4 million bail. The family confirmed the deaths through a spokesperson.
