UMIP and Panama Maritime Chamber Renew Alliance for Maritime Sector Development

The Maritime International University of Panama (UMIP) and the Maritime Chamber of Panama (CMP) have renewed their inter-institutional cooperation agreement. This partnership reaffirms both entities' commitment to strengthening the maritime sector, developing human talent, and promoting joint initiatives focused on sustainable economic growth and national and regional benefit. The renewal of the agreement aims to consolidate formal cooperation relations to achieve common growth goals, in strict compliance with the regulations governing each institution. One of the fundamental axes of the agreement is the implementation of professional internship programs for UMIP students, adjusted to the regulations established by both parties. The agreement will also promote a broad exchange of experiences, documents, information, and knowledge. This mechanism aims to disseminate the achievements and results of work and research developed by UMIP and CMP, strengthening knowledge transfer between academia and industry. The alliance will also seek to boost the development of joint research, consulting, and extension projects, which will be carried out under previously agreed financing or collaboration schemes. Through this action, UMIP and the Maritime Chamber of Panama ratify their strategic alliance between academia and industry, contributing to the training of highly qualified professionals and the strengthening of the Panamanian maritime cluster, a pillar essential for the country's socioeconomic development. As part of the collaboration, both entities will provide mutual advice on projects, activities, programs, and events linked to their attributions. The renewal specifically includes the joint development of programs and projects of mutual interest.
