During inspections carried out at the Seafood Market in the capital city and at other points in the country, the Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco) conducted verification operations on scales and visible prices in seafood outlets. During the inspection, personnel from the Acodeco's Metrology department inspected a total of 13 scales, which all passed the technical tests performed. The institution seeks to verify compliance with consumer protection standards and promote transparent commercial practices in different sales points. Acodeco reminded consumers that the prices of seafood products respond to market supply and demand. Additionally, it was recommended to compare prices between different stalls or establishments before making purchases in order to find better options. This guaranteed that consumers receive the correct weight in their fish and seafood purchases. These actions are part of the operations during Holy Week, a season in which seafood consumption increases.
