What was once a military base is today a Panamanian space dedicated to knowledge. 25 years after its creation, Ciudad del Saber has consolidated itself as one of the main hubs and ecosystems where innovation contributes to the development of knowledge and international cooperation in Panama. Currently, its campus hosts over 260 organizations, generates 11,378 jobs, and contributes $314 million annually to economic activity, contributing to the country's sustainable development, economic impact, and competitiveness. During this quarter of a century, the project has helped position Panama as a meeting point for innovation and international collaboration. Ciudad del Saber has consolidated as a platform for entrepreneurship and social impact. In the last five years, more than 300 startups have been incubated on the campus, generating over $21 million in revenue. Additionally, more than 13,000 entrepreneurs have participated in incubation and acceleration programs, while more than 8,000 women have been trained. Each year, more than 4 million visits are received. Currently, 34 international organizations, 135 organizations dedicated to innovation, technology, education, and science, and more than 25 academic programs that strengthen talent development operate on the campus. The economic impact of the ecosystem is very significant. An economic and social impact study conducted by Ipsos revealed that in 2024, the organizations based on the campus registered... In addition to its economic and institutional impact, the project protects a 21-hectare forest reserve that serves as a space for scientific research and environmental education. “After reaching the milestone of our first 25 years, we, together with the firm Ipsos, conducted a study to measure the economic and social impact of Ciudad del Saber. Located on the former site of the Clayton military base, Ciudad del Saber has been transformed into a campus dedicated to applied science, entrepreneurship, and international cooperation, connecting talent, research, and companies to develop solutions for the challenges of the country and the region. The results of the study confirm that this is a project that drives the economy and contributes to a more equitable, prosperous, and sustainable future for Panama,” stated Jorge Arosemena R., executive president of the Ciudad del Saber Foundation.
