The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) has announced the Panama Cultural Agenda, which will take place from December 12 to 19, offering the public a variety of activities including art exhibitions, concerts, theater plays, and workshops for the whole family.
The programming spans venues in the capital, Colón, and other provinces, aiming to encourage public participation and plural access to art.
One of the central events of the week is the ballet The Nutcracker, with performances by the National Ballet at the National Theater of Panama.
The National Symphony Orchestra will have several performances of its Christmas Season at places like the City of Arts, the National Shrine Church, and the Church of Juan Díaz Park.
Other important events include:
• Exhibitions and Shows: El Que Mira Hacia Dentro at Habitante Gallery; the interactive exhibition Picante about the history of chili peppers at Casa del Soldado; and Pequeños Maestros, Grandes Obras at the Regional Museum of Veraguas, available until the end of the month.
• Workshops and Art: Workshops such as Pintando con Olga Sinclair at the Art and Culture Center of Colón and Navidad en familia con Olga Sinclair will be held. There will also be a Workshop for Chefs in Colón and family workshops like Pinta tu propio ornamento at the Canal Museum.
• Cinema and Audiovisuals: The 1st. Film, Art and Collectibles Festival will take place at the National Archives. Métete en la Movie Vol. 3, a showcase of national and international short films, will also be presented at Obarrio Galleries, and Christmas cinema in Colón.
The programming focuses on the December spirit with various festive activities:
• Music and Concerts: Tarde de villancicos at Town Center Costa del Este; Concierto Viva Navidad by the Youth Orchestra and the Network of Choirs and Orchestras; and The Big Band Concert at the Omar Park Amphitheater.
• Children's Theater: Children can enjoy Salvando la navidad at Pacific Theater, El Burrito Sabanero at Aba Theater, and Blanca Nieves salva la Navidad at Telon theater studio.
• Other Events: Includes the Lighting of Lights in San Miguelito and fitness activities like Zumba Navideña at the Omar Park Dome.
MiCulture reiterates the invitation to the Citizen Consultation of the National Culture Plan and to actively participate in the Panama Cultural Agenda.
