The national solidarity initiative 'Donatón por los Animales sin Hogar' returns for its eighth edition to benefit rescuers and foundations through the collection of supplies and funds for sterilizations. During the event's weekend, collection centers will be set up at establishments such as Supermercados Rey, Romero, Melo Pet & Garden, Novey, American Pets, Woof House, Super Xtra, Super 99, and Doit Center. This eighth edition is held in memory of Ezrhy Santamaría, founder and president of the Donatón, highlighting his commitment to the animal cause in Panama. Since 2019, this event has consolidated itself as one of the most significant animal welfare initiatives in the country, impacting over 150 independent rescuers and national foundations dedicated to rescue, rehabilitation, and responsible adoption. For this year's edition, the organization has set a goal to collect more than 15,000 kilograms of food and to finance at least 500 sterilization procedures for dogs and cats. As part of the scheduled agenda, on Sunday, April 19, the 'Bazar Donatón para Mascotas' will take place in Omar Park, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event will include recreational activities such as 'Run Puppy Run', adoption drives, and the collection of physical donations. The initiative is backed by organizations like the Banco Nacional de Alimentos para Animales Rescatados (BANAPAR), the Fundación Toribia Rodríguez de Escudero, and the Fundación Spay/Panama.
