The Foundation for Scenic and Audiovisual Arts is set to hold the 15th edition of the International Festival of Scenic Arts (FAE Panamá 2026) from April 16th to 20th. This is the most important event for contemporary theater and dance in the country, aiming to bring together the best companies and specialists from around the world. FAE Panamá began as a biennial event in 2004, becoming an annual festival in 2019. Over two decades, it has become a high-level artistic showcase and has created free social segments such as 'FAE Comes to the Neighborhood Schools,' the 'FAE Formative Laboratory,' and 'FAE Outdoors.' Seven countries will participate in this grand artistic celebration: Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, France, and Panama. The festival will feature 9 shows from 9 groups and 8 formative activities, including master classes, talks, and workshops, across 10 city venues. The program will have three daily time slots (7:30 PM, 9:00 PM, and 10:00 PM) to allow the public to enjoy multiple performances in one evening. The festival will open on April 16th at the National Theater with renowned Spanish choreographer Sol Picó and her company performing 'Malditas Plumas.' Other featured shows include 'Favez' from Cuba, the Costa Rica-Panama co-production 'Los Trazos de la Memoria,' Argentina's 'El Brote,' and Panamanian productions 'No soy Sissi' and 'La Condesa.' The FAE Formative Laboratory will offer free workshops in Dramaturgy by Argentine director Emiliano Dionisi, Clown by Colombia's Corporación Legados, and Theater Criticism by Cuban specialist Vivian Martínez.
