Panama, November 6, 2025. Over 300,000 residents of the Chilibre, Las Cumbres, Alcalde Díaz, Ernesto Córdoba Campos, and Caimitillo districts will benefit from the construction of the Panama North Regional Hospital, a project long awaited by this sector of the country. The Minister of Health, Fernando Boyd Galindo, and the mayor of Panama City, Mayer Mizrachi, signed the agreement transferring three land parcels (6.7 hectares) to the Ministry of Health (Minsa) for 30 years for the construction of this health facility. "The hospital that will be built here has been long awaited by the communities of this sector of the province of Panama, which for years have had to travel long distances, often enduring endless traffic jams or public transport transfers to access health services, whether at the San Miguel Arcángel Hospital, the Santo Tomás Hospital, or the Social Security Metropolitan Hospital Complex," said Minister Boyd Galindo in his speech. For the construction of this project, Minsa has an initial budget of 60 million balboas, and it is expected that the tender process will take place in the next six months, with construction works lasting approximately 24 months. Boyd Galindo thanked the political will of Mayor Mizrachi for the transfer of these lands to Minsa; he also thanked the members of the Panama Municipal Council for approving the agreement and the support of the deputies of circuit 8-5. Mayor Mayer Mizrachi highlighted that this action reflects a responsible and human vision of public management: "For years, several administrations kept these lands unused, while communities continued to wait for solutions. Today, we are giving a real purpose to municipal land: the health of our people." The construction of this hospital in Panama North will bring medical services closer to one of the most populous and fastest-growing areas of the capital district.
