In response to complaints from residents in the Juan Díaz area about cloudy water coming from their taps, the National Aqueducts and Sewers Institute (Idaan) clarified that the issue stems from a recent repair operation on the distribution network.
Last weekend, IDAAN carried out the "Panama without leaks" initiative in that sector, aiming to reduce water loss and optimize service. During the past Saturday and Sunday, technical teams repaired over 60 leaks in pipes, an action that increases hydraulic pressure and improves the general water supply in the area.
"These interventions are essential to strengthen the infrastructure and guarantee water service for homes," Idaan explained in an official statement.
Idaan detailed that in the days following the operation, it is common to see the removal of sediments accumulated in the pipes. This natural process will progressively normalize as the system stabilizes.
To speed this up, the institute applies the "hydromod" procedure, which consists of opening fire hydrants and valves. This removes sediments trapped in the internal pipes of homes and prevents unnecessary risks.
"The water supplied meets potability standards once it has settled," the authorities added.
Users can report incidents through the 800-Idaan line or the official Idaan app.
This type of operation is part of a national plan to modernize the network, which loses close to 50% of its water to leaks in some areas.
