Panama - A doctor implicated in a case of medical negligence in 2021, while working at the Nicolás A. Solano Hospital in the province of West Panama, was apprehended by the National Police (PN). The 35-year-old physician was detained this Thursday, January 22, in the Bella Vista district of Panama province. According to the investigations being carried out by the Public Ministry (MP), the doctor is allegedly involved in the crime against life and personal integrity, in the form of negligent homicide. In this case of alleged medical negligence that occurred in February 2021, a woman who had been admitted to the Nicolás A. Solano Hospital died. Another five physicians who worked at this same hospital remain under precautionary measures, suspended from their duties as doctors, as they are implicated in another case of malpractice that occurred in April 2021. This group of doctors was already charged at the request of the Section of Crimes against Life and Personal Integrity and Crimes against Freedom of West Panama for the crime of negligent homicide. The hearings for this case, in which a woman died, were held between December 2025 and January 2026.
