This infrastructure guarantees access to services for students with special educational needs under equity standards. Currently, the institute provides specialized care to a total of 583 students with Down syndrome at the national level. During the panel discussion, specialists emphasized that Down syndrome is a genetic condition that does not limit the essence of a person, but their progress is closely linked to development opportunities, timely access to health, and quality education. The panel featured prominent professionals such as Dr. Samuel Roberts Vega, Dr. Oleg Saldaña Bethancourt, and Dr. Esther Mendoza. Alongside them, parents and young people with Down syndrome shared testimonies that helped break down prejudices and reinforce the construction of a more equitable society. This initiative aimed to foster a deep and multidimensional understanding of this condition, integrating scientific, family, and social inclusion strategies. Strengthening family and technical support The event was opened by Magister Sandra Bolt de Brea, IPHE's Deputy General Director, who highlighted the importance of these guidance spaces to consolidate the support families receive. Of this population, 274 students are integrated into Community Schools, while 309 receive specific support at IPHE's own headquarters. The event concluded with the intervention of Magister José Camarena, National Director of Services and Support for Rehabilitation, who urged to maintain the articulation between science and the community to transform students' lives through knowledge and a supportive environment.
