Franklyn Robinson Expresses Anger Over Vía España Expansion

Politician Franklyn Robinson accuses Panamanian authorities of arbitrarily deciding to expand Vía España, affecting his business, and of violating notification and compensation procedures.

Franklyn Robinson Expresses Anger Over Vía España Expansion

Politician and communicator Franklyn Robinson expressed his anger over the expansion of Vía España, a project that is expected to affect several of his properties, including a restaurant, barbershop, and car wash. The layout of the project directly impacts Robinson's land, and he maintains that the intervention is arbitrary and that the legal processes for compensation or proper notification are not being respected. Robinson stated that there was no prior approach to negotiate a fair price, describing the action as an 'outrage.' One day, he arrived to find his properties marked with a red 'X' and a sticker that read 'Remove.' He didn't understand anything. Robinson believes it is correct to reassess the eviction date to do things properly: to officially communicate, explain the project to businesses and neighbors, and prevent some from trying to fish in troubled waters by manipulating people. He affirms that the highway expansion will affect part of his properties, but there will be a change. However, he will be monitoring the situation, ensuring that words are not just carried away by the wind after meeting with local authorities. Robinson also added that the Ministry of Public Works of Panama listened and apologized because the way some were notified of the eviction was not appropriate. In his case, he says, he didn't even receive a piece of paper.
