The Commission for Women, Children, Youth, and Family of the National Assembly conducted an inspection tour on Friday in several shelters located in Panama City, as part of a verification process for the conditions in which minors under the custody of these institutions are being held. During the tour, deputies visited at least four shelters, reviewing facilities and verifying the functioning of care programs for children and adolescents. Deputy Alexandra Brenes explained that one of the preliminary findings points to the need to strengthen specialized staff who provide care to minors. "It has been positive, however, we have detected the need to have professionals who can provide support to minors," stated the parliamentarian during the tour.
