Suntracs has recently led protests against social security reforms, open-pit mining, and a U.S. agreement deemed harmful to sovereignty. In February, the International Labour Organization (ILO) reported violations of union freedom in Panama, prompting its experts' commission to call for measures to restore the union's operations.
