The Panamanian Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco) has reiterated to the public that, according to the current legislation of the Republic of Panama, claims related to public services, specifically the electricity supply, are the exclusive competence of the National Public Services Authority (ASEP).
The institution explained that all complaints or inquiries related to electricity billing, constant interruptions, supply quality, or meter irregularities must be channeled through ASEP. Acodeco reaffirmed its commitment to guiding the population about the appropriate channels, ensuring that each claim regarding public services or commercial goods reaches the correct instance for an effective solution.
The objective of this clarification is to ensure that cases receive the corresponding legal processing and are handled by specialists in the technical field of energy. ASEP is the entity responsible for regulating, supervising, and overseeing the concessionary companies that provide these services in the country.
