The death of Jorge Molina, alias 'Bologna', near the Centenario building in Calidonia, ceased to be just another homicide in the city. Upon leaving, they found three injured people, including Molina, who was taken to Santo Tomás Hospital, where he was later declared dead. The scene was captured in videos that circulated on social media, showing the desperation of those trying to assist the victims. Behind the name 'Bologna' was a history that was not unknown. As the hours passed, data began to emerge that paints a picture of who the victim was and how his name is linked to structures that have been under the authorities' scrutiny. The attack occurred on Friday night around 11:30 p.m. when detonations alerted residents of the apartment complex. It is not just about a man killed in a red zone, but someone who appeared in the circle of a family linked to organized crime investigations, which is now part of the authorities' analysis. On November 10, 2020, he was detained in Santa Ana, specifically in the same Centenario building, where there was an active arrest warrant for gang activity. Three years later, he appeared again in checks, this time at La Joya Penitentiary Complex, on a summons related to child support. The most significant piece of information now is his link to the Caicedo family. Jorge Molina is believed to be the biological son of César Caicedo, although he was not legally recognized. Caicedo was pointed out by the Public Ministry as the supposed head of a criminal network dedicated to drug trafficking, in the so-called 'Operation Nodriza', a case that led to multiple arrests and seizures of drugs, vehicles, boats, and weapons. In that same operation, the family's inner circle was also mentioned, including other close associates, in an investigation that extended between Panama and West Panama. The case gained greater public notoriety when the family's name came to light after the kidnapping of Dayra Caicedo, César's daughter, an event that was investigated with the deployment of police units and raids in various parts of the capital. In this context, Molina's death is connected to a larger web.
