Panama Hosts IRONMAN 70.3 Latin America TriClub Championship 2026

This Sunday, March 22, is the big day for the IRONMAN 70.3 Panamá Latin America TriClub Championship 2026, an international event that will bring together more than 1,500 athletes from over 50 countries. The competition, which sold out its spots since December 2025, will take place mainly at the Amador Causeway and other iconic points in the capital, with a logistical deployment that will involve significant road closures from the early hours of the day. The event organizers informed that the closures will be maintained from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., covering several key points in the city. In Amador, a lane reversal will be applied from the Museum of Freedom to the Pencas restaurant, with access via the Avenue of the Martyrs or Balboa Avenue. In the Paitilla area, access to the Corredor Sur from the Cinta Costera will be restricted, as well as the closure of the viaduct towards Israel Avenue, although a controlled passage will be maintained in front of the McDonald's in Paitilla. Meanwhile, Israel Avenue will have major closures, from its intersection with Brazil Avenue to Boca la Caja, at the height of P.H. San Francisco Bay, and on the exit of the Corredor Sur towards Cincuentenario/Israel Avenue, only right turns towards Parrillada Jimmy will be allowed. Regarding the development of the competition, the event consists of a total route of 113 kilometers, divided into three disciplines. The competition will begin with a 1.9-kilometer swimming segment in the waters of the Panama Canal, considered one of the most outstanding circuits in Latin America within the IRONMAN calendar. Subsequently, the 90-kilometer cycling segment will be held, with a redesigned route that will connect the Amador Causeway, the Cinta Costera, Israel Avenue, and Panama Viejo. The route will consist of three laps, starting from the Amador Causeway, passing through the Cinta Costeras —a already familiar section— and incorporating a new section towards Panama Viejo, traversing Israel Avenue and the 50th Avenue until the return. The competition will culminate with the 21.1-kilometer running segment, which will again take place at the Amador Causeway. This segment will be developed on a three-lap circuit that includes Isla Naos and Juan Perón Avenue, with the finish at the Amador Convention Center. The IRONMAN 70.3 Panamá 2026 also stands out with the participation of 1,500 athletes and more than 1,000 volunteers, supported by institutions such as the Metropolitan University of Education, Science, and Technology, Columbus University, the Technological University of Panama, and the University of the Isthmus. In this competition, there will be athletes from countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, and the Dominican Republic.
