Seven Rescued After Vessel Sinks Off Panama Coast

Seven individuals were rescued by Panama's Aeronaval Service following a vessel sinking off the coast of Colón. All survivors are in stable condition.

Seven people were rescued by agents of the National Aeronaval Service after the vessel they were traveling in sank this weekend in Costa Arriba, Colón. At the time of the rescue, they were found on a rock in an area known as “Piedra Farallón” and were subsequently taken to a safe port at the La Guaira pier, in the corregimiento of Isla Grande, district of Portobelo. The alert was issued after the incident was reported via the emergency line 108. According to the operational report of the Third Aeronaval Region, agents aboard the vessel identified as BPC-3811 managed to locate and rescue the citizens. Following the rescue, the individuals were transported by an Aeronaval patrol to the Portobelo area, where they received medical evaluation and attention. It was determined that they were stable with no significant injuries. Therefore, the AERONAVAL urges all sea users to comply with safety measures, check weather conditions and vessel status, and report any risk situation or threat to navigation safety to our line 108.
