47 Drug Packages Found in Panama

A total of 47 drug packages were counted on Wednesday following the discovery of a sack at Playa Escondida beach in the María Chiquita area of the Portobelo district, in Costa Arriba de Colón, by the National Police. Hermógenes Argüelles, head of the Colón Third Police Zone, reported that the police were alerted to a suspicious sack at the beach in María Chiquita. National Police agents went to the scene, and upon inspecting the sack, it was transported to a substation where coordination was made with the National Directorate of Narcotics and the Drugs Prosecutor's Office. Argüelles added that during the count, 47 rectangular packages of a possible illicit substance were counted. He stated that it is not ruled out that this discovery is related to the operation carried out on Monday, where three people were apprehended and 40 packages of possible drugs were recovered. The Drugs Prosecutor's Office is advancing the investigations in the case.
